A little about me:

I was born and grew up in Iran, where I completed my undergraduate studies at my hometown university. I have always been enthusiastic about research since it’s an infinite world and each day there is something new to absorb. The novelty of the research world is endless, and that’s why it is extremely interesting for me. I have always wanted to be a research scientist that helps patients and whose work benefits society – and I found my passion for clinical research studies, in particular the diagnostic aspect of disease. For this reason, I decided to pursue radiology as my major in university.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I had the chance to work in a trauma hospital as a radiology technician. I saw many children and women come to the hospital clinic for different x-ray requests, which was not desirable due to radiation. This became the major motivation for me to explore safe imaging modalities in my research. I decided to explore using ultrasound as a non-ionizing imaging system to scan patients without any concerns about any harmful side effects. I found a research team working on scoliosis by using ultrasound imaging methods at the University of Alberta and became interested in pursuing my graduate studies working on scoliosis there.

I moved to Canada in 2016, and was able to successfully complete my PhD in 2021. However, I wanted to continue my research so I began searching for the scoliosis clinics that were interested in becoming involved with research. When I found The ScoliClinic, I was not sure if I would be able to fit in as a researcher here. However, I realized that both The ScoliClinic and I share a high level of mutual interest in research potential and projects. Currently, I work as a post-doctoral fellow at The ScoliClinic and hope that this position is both helpful to my career goals and has a positive impact on the field of scoliosis research.

My work at The ScoliClinic consists of:

I work as a clinical researcher or data scientist at The ScoliClinic. My role involves conducting research studies, data management and data analysis. The goal of my current research project is to help physiotherapists and orthotists to improve the outcomes of the treatment for children or adults with scoliosis. The results of my research would help to manage scoliosis, estimate, and optimize the outcome of treatment more efficiently. As a researcher I would have a direct interact with clinicians to learn about the current challenges and therefore would help together to manage those challenges more efficiently or find a solution.
